August 26, Reskilling: Wool spinning (into yarn)
This unique approach to spinning uses a
hand-held drop spinner- which means it is portable allowing
the user to spin yarn almost anywhere. The class will
include a handout and basic instruction in cleaning and
carding (preparing to spin) then spinning alpaca, goat, and
sheep wool, your own spinner to keep, and 2oz of raw wool to

Aug 29 - Sept 1, Outing: Car Camp & Backpack
Rio Grande Del Norte National Monument, NM
Join us in a car camping/backpacking
introduction to one of the nation’s newest national
monuments. Our first night (Friday, 8/29) we will car
camp at the La Junta Overlook group campsite. The next day
we will backpack approximately one mile down into the Rio
Grande gorge (an 800-foot change in elevation), where we
will set up camp along the river for the next two nights. On
Sunday (8/31) we will have all day to explore the Rio Grande
river trail and its riparian environment. On Monday (9/1) we
hike back up the canyon trail to our cars and make the trip
