bulletOctober, 2001 - During the summer the Oklahoma Chapter of the Sierra Club learns that the Governor is in negations to sign a 100 Year contract to sell up to 1 Billion gallons of water a day to Texas.  After a few months of research and meetings with various interest groups, the Chapter decides to oppose the sale.  You can read about it in the October newsletter.
bulletDecember 8, 2001 - The club takes a public position.  Read the club's stance here.
bulletJanuary 11th, 2002 - Governor gives up! - suspends the sale, but the sale isn't dead as the legislature picks up the plan.
bulletJanuary 17th, 2002 - Sierra Club Issues a Press Release in response to the Governor's action.
bulletMarch 6th, 2002 - The state legislature takes action!  State Rep Mike Mass's measures passes 93-4.  Read about HJR 1038 here.
bulletMarch 7th, 2002 - More action taken by the legislature! State Rep Debbie Blackburn's measure passes 95-0. Read about HB 2895 here.
bulletMarch 21st, 2002 - Action Alert - Even though HJR 1038 and HB 2895 passed with huge margins (see above), the bills have been locked up in committee with a procedural move that might prevent them from becoming law.
bulletApril 2nd, 2002 - Action Alert - More club efforts are underway to move the bills out of committee
bulletJune 6th, 2002 - Governor Frank Keating signs bill halting the sale until a study is completed.
