water poll

June 6th, 2002 - The National Wildlife Federation released a Texas statewide poll (n= 800 registered voters) that reveals that most Texans prefer water conservation efforts before expensive dams and pipelines are considered.

Further, although the state water planning is supposed to be a "bottom-up" citizen stakeholder process, 78% of Texans had not heard of the Texas water planning process at the time the survey was conducted in late April, 2002.

Even more illuminating, 93% of Texans feel it is important to provide adequate protection for rivers, bays, and wildlife was Texas plans for water needs for the next 50 years.
